These terms apply to your use of this website and to flooring services provided by Hardwood Refinishing Toronto in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. By using the website or booking our services, you agree to these terms. Your signed written quote forms part of our agreement and takes priority if anything conflicts.

2. Quotes and pricing

Prices shown on this website, including the cost calculator, are published ranges in Canadian dollars and are estimates only. Every project receives a written per-sq-ft quote after an on-site measure. The written quote lists the scope, products, number of coats, repairs, access costs and timeline, and is valid for 30 days. Applicable taxes (HST) are added to all prices.

Work outside the written scope, such as additional board replacement discovered after sanding begins, will be explained and priced before it is done. We will not proceed with extra work without your approval.

3. Deposits and payment

  • Projects under $3,000: payment is due on completion.
  • Projects of $3,000 and over: 30% is due at scheduling and 70% on completion.
  • Approved property manager accounts: Net-30 from invoice date.

We accept cash, credit card, e-transfer and cheque.

4. Scheduling and cancellations

Please give at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel. Deposits for cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice may be partially retained to cover materials ordered and crew time reserved. Hardwood ordered for installation projects is non-refundable once delivered.

5. Your responsibilities

  • Clear small items, valuables and breakables from the work area before we arrive.
  • Provide access, electricity and water, and arrange building approvals, elevator bookings or parking where we have not agreed to do so.
  • Keep people and pets out of work areas during sanding and curing times we give you.
  • Tell us about known moisture issues, radiant heating, previous refinishing or anything else that could affect the floor.

6. Natural characteristics of wood

Hardwood is a natural material. Colour variation, grain differences, seasonal gaps and minor movement with humidity are normal and not defects. Stain colour on your floor may differ from samples, which is why we test on your actual boards before staining. Existing damage that goes deeper than the wood we can safely remove, such as deep pet stains or previous drum sander dips, may remain visible.

7. Engineered hardwood

We measure engineered wear layers before quoting. We only sand engineered floors with a wear layer we judge sufficient (2mm or more). Where the veneer is thinner, we recommend a screen and recoat. We are not responsible for variations in manufacturer veneer thickness that could not reasonably be seen during our inspection.

8. Workmanship warranty

Our work carries a 5-year workmanship warranty from the date of completion. It covers defects in our workmanship, such as finish peeling or adhesion failure under normal use. It does not cover normal wear, scratches, dents, damage from water, pets, furniture without pads, improper cleaning products or humidity outside the normal range of 35-55%. Manufacturer warranties apply separately to materials. To make a claim, contact us with photos; we will inspect within a reasonable time.

9. Insurance

We carry $2 million commercial general liability insurance and WSIB coverage. Certificates of insurance are available on request, usually within 24 hours.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to a project is limited to the amount you paid for that project. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as accommodation costs or loss of rental income, except where caused by our negligence.

Content on this website, including text, photos and calculators, is provided for general information and belongs to Hardwood Refinishing Toronto. You may not copy or republish it without permission. Calculator results are estimates and do not form an offer.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario.
