North York is a district of bungalows and big lots. **Don Mills** was planned from 1952 to 1965, and much of **Willowdale** dates from before 1960, so many homes still have their first red oak strip floor, often under carpet.

The other half of the work is newer. Willowdale is where Torontonians first said 'monster homes', and replacement houses from the 1990s on often carry wide-plank or patterned floors in **Hogg's Hollow** and **York Mills** that call for installation skill as much as sanding.
